California, San Diego County. I was pulled over & ticketed for 'failing to stop at a stop sign'. I did not argue with the police officer at the time, because I do have a tendency towards "California Stops". Now, I believe that I did 'stop'. Sufficiently to determine that there was NO ON-COMING traffic, and therefore it was 'my turn' to go 'next'.
I'm elligible for traffic school, costing $131.00 court fee, plus whatever the school's fee. This is my first offense of this kind. My last ticket was for 2 violations: 'failure to yield properly for an emergency vehicle' and driving on an expired license (occurring over 10 years ago).
I believe it might be in my best interest to contest the violation. As I deliver newspapers I am driving ALOT. I feel I don't want to 'waste' a turn at Traffic School, and I can't really afford the cost.
Any information or direction for gathering more information, towards making an informed decision is what I'm asking. Thanks |
