STOP sign voilation

What is the name of your state? NJ

Hi,

I have not stoped at a STOP sign. I was new to the area, went to pick up my friend from the train station. The roads was under construction and it just rained. I drove past the stop sign and office gave a ticket. Even my friend was shocked to know there was a stop sign over there. Officer told me to pled not guilty if I have not seen the STOP sign and I did. They called me to appear in the court. I have never been to a court, pls tell me what I have to expect.
