What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? PA

What is the procedure regarding being served with a summons to appear in court? Do you usually receive a summons to appear through certified mail or is it mailed directly to your home through regular ground postal service? I have heard varying things, would someone be able to clear this up?

Also, do lawyers serve you notice through certified mail in the case a private party is suing you for costs related to a motor vehicle accident?

Much appreciated.
