Suspended license, and changing statesHi I've been living in NY, and had my license suspended. Recently I moved to IL. Can I go and get a license, or I will have to wait until suspention ends in NY? Do I get points in other states with NY license, and do I get points in another states with IL license? Can some state other then my home state suspend my license? Thanks |

| The answer kind of depends on whether you're going to play by the rules or not. You're SUPPOSED to wait until your suspension ends. However, depending on how much IL talks with NY you might be able to "lose your license" go down there with your birth certificate, and do the the written and driving tests and get an IL license. Now it may get revoked once they catch on, and you'll probably incur some fines, but you could theoretically do it. I'd definitely check the laws you'll be breaking if you do this. You don't want to end up in jail. Of course, nothing says you'll get caught either. Your call. Only the state issuing can officially revoke your license. Other states can only revoke your right to drive in their states. |
