Angry

ticket 2 days after the fact

We live where there are many dirt and gravel roads. Therefore most everyone has cracked windshields. Untill now I didn't think there was much we could do about it. However, last month my Husband was driving his 4X4 bronco with my 18 year old son in the passanger seat Saturday. They turned off the main highway and onto a county road. The ony car they remember passing was a nice white care that had pulled up going the opposite way turning on to the highway. My Husband was carful to pull close to the corner and go slow past this car and went his way thinking nothing of it. The following Monday the Sherif pulled into our driveway, invited my Husband into his vehicle and proceeded to issue a ticket for exhibition driving! He had taken the complaint from who we have found out since is a good friend of his, and proceeced on over 2 days later and issued a ticket! How can this be legal? My Husband refused to sign the ticket and court was held today. This is where it gets worse; the state Attorney, the sherif, and the accuser all good long time buddies, railroaded and lied. With absulutly no proof, A lesser ticket of careless driving was issued and My Husband lost! I want him to appeal. This is rediculouse. What can we do? we cannot hire a lawyer, not even at a discount. We have to deffend ourselves.

Why are they harassing my husband?

Well, My Husband is very friendly, loud, and I think talks too much.
He doesn't know the meaning of low profile. He always boasts that everyone knows him in town because he is friendly to everyone and works in many peoples homes installing floors.
However, He is not from here. We moved here from another state 5 years ago looking to get away from all the gangs, crime, etc.. because we have children to raise. It seems these closed minded farmers who have been here for generations look at us as alians. They are willing to take our money, count our kids heads in school for the revenue, but unwilling to accept any contribution of activity or voice in the community. It doesn't help that we are a different religion than the main stream here either.
