| Ok, here is my situation.. I have a bad habit of not putting my new insurance cards in my car.. Whenever i get pulled over, I always get slapped with a "no insurance" ticket which requires me to go to court to prove i did infact have insurance... Now here is the thing.. Every time I do go to court, and show the prosicuter my valid card, he sais "ok we can ammend this charge to failure to produce documents." This means i still get slapped with a small fine. Now is this not fair that when i can prove i am not guilty of one crime that they merely pawn it off on another? I don't know too much about the law and i dont wanna risk angering the judge or prosicuter by fighting them, but i'd like to know what the legal relivance of all this is.. Thanks for any help. Mike |

| You have already pissed off the judge and the prosecuter by wasting the courts time. They are trying to prove to you that it would be much easier to carry the insurance card than to go to court, but apparently the message isn't getting through. You also forgot to include your state. |

Oh thanks your so helpful...This is in the state of nj, and i havent appeard in the specific courtroom of that town. I just had a simple question as to if the situation arises, would i be able to just prove myself not guilty, and not agree to letting them amend the charge? Could they just issue me a seperate summons anyhow because it is infact a different law? I mean i already assume the cop will be ticked because i dont think they like it when people fight back, but i dont want to put myself in a position to face supreme wrath from the judge. Thanks for your help ppl. |
