What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? CA

Just curious: supposed an officer is designated to a ticket issuing agency that belongs to an institution (e.g. hospital, college). Can the officer carry out his duty and give out tickets in area that is outside of the institution he is abided to? Is he also allowed to park his car and watch over people in area that is outside of the institution? Under what circumstances the officer has the authority to do so?

If he is a fully sworn peace officer in CA, then he likely has jurisdiction virtually anywhere in the state. His agency policy may forbid him from issuing citations off the immediate property of the hospital or college, but this does not mean that he would not have the legal authority to do so.

Most state universities and colleges have their PDs enforcing laws within a mile of their campus locations. I have never worked near any state hospitals with PDs so I don't know what is common policy there.
