What is the statute of limitation for prosecuting traffic tickets in Honolulu. I have a couple of 2003 no insurance violations that have reactivated upon my arrest for outstanding bench warrants.
Thanks for any help!

Statute of limitations refers to when the crime was committed and the time that you were charged. Which was when the officer gave you the tickets. The most you could argue is a speedy trial issue but I doubt it.

There isn't one. The ticket you received is when the charges were filed. The SOL would have applied PRIOR to you receiving the ticket. ie: If you commit a crime, the state has x amount of years to bring charges. Once those charges are brought, SOL doesn't apply.

Traffic ticket advice needed!

This is entered on the docket of a June, 2001 ticket:

Violation Disposition Sentence
1 HRS 431:10C-104 NO MOTOR VEH INSURANCE 08-JUL-2001 DPJ Dismissed With Prejudice 03-JUN-2005

Then the following is entered below it:
CASE NOLLEPROSEQUI BY PROSECUTOR & DISMISSED (AGE OF CASE). CTC50 ASSESSED. OLS: 7-5-05. JUDGMENT FILED

I was told by someone (who wasn't sure himself) that there was a 3 year time frame for prosecution but I can't find the Hawaii Revised Statute that says so.

Other than a SOL...

...is there anything else that could stipulate a window of prosecutorial opportunity, aside from there being a specific revised statute?

Violation Disposition Sentence
1 HRS 431:10C-104 NO MOTOR VEH INSURANCE 08-JUL-2001 DPJ Dismissed With Prejudice 03-JUN-2005

Then the following is entered below it under "event":
CASE NOLLEPROSEQUI BY PROSECUTOR & DISMISSED (AGE OF CASE). CTC50 ASSESSED. OLS: 7-5-05. JUDGMENT FILED

Any other takes on "AGE OF CASE" bringing about a dismissal?
Thanks for all the feedback and assistance!
