| |  Unlawful Speedometer Charge
What is the name of your state? NY
I received an unlawful speedometer "ticket" in upstate NY (Orange County) but I live in NYC. The trooper clocked me at 80mph in a 65mph zone but said he would let me off the hook with an unlawful speedometer charge. Do I plead not guilty? If i plead not guilty i have to go back upstate for a hearing and that is too far for me on a weekday. Is there a fine or any points issued? I know nothing about handling this. Please help!

| | | Assuming that he issued you a citation under § 376-a. Defective equipment there are no points and it will not effect your insurance. You can send in the ticket with the guilty box checked and they will notify you of the fine. You will not have to appear. |
