Unsafe lane change

What is the name of your state?

Accident took place in Maryland.

Back in December I was involved in a traffic accident in Maryland. The officer on the scene couldn't determine guilt, so he issued both parties tickets for moving violation and said to go to court to determine who was at fault. I initially did not receive my court notification b/c the officer wrote down the incorrect spelling of my name and the incorrect address. (In addition to proving the incorrect copy of the tickets to both parties.)

I've successfully petitioned the court for a new court date however I am moving from Virginia to Colorado on May 22 and my new court date has been set for May 31st.

I have 2 questions:

1) If I choose to plea guilty after handing in my Virginia drivers license for a Colorado one, will the points still be assessed?
2) Is there a way to have the case dismissed due to hardship of having to appear before the court?

Contact the Colorado DMV. They are the only ones that can answer your question. I would like to know the answer when you find out.

Sorry. What you can do is to talk to the clerk of court to see if you can set an earlier date. If the other party does not show to testify then the ticket should be dismissed.

Additional Information

I spoke with the Colorado DMV and I was told that the points on my license in Virgina won't transfer to CO. Apparently when you get a CO license, any points you may have had in another state are wiped clean.

Thank you. I had gotten the same information from another source but it goes against the Drivers License Compact and I was not sure about the reliability of the report. Appreciate you clearing that up for me.

However I understand that serious offenses like DUI do transfer.
