The officer caught me going 40 in what would be a 40mph zone, but since he said it was by a school, the speed was supposed to be 25mph. If this is an issue that I can fight, then please let me know.

-You apparantly were caught in a "School Zone", thus the speed limit is 25 mph. Normally there are signs posted stating this. You can always fight a ticket but due to the fact that you go to the school you should have known this.
What code section were you cited for?

The main point of this post is that the officer did not sign my ticket. Does this mean that it is invalidated? I received another mail saying that they did make the mistake of not signing it, but I do not know if it is valid or invalid.

-It is valid.
If an Officer makes a mistake on a citation, generally they issue an amendment to the citation. The ammendment is mailed to the person cited and also goes with the citation to the courthouse.
