VA reckless driving

What is the name of your state? VA

I was in an accident and was given a ticket for reckless driving. The police officer at the time told me that in the state of VA they are only allowed to give out 2 tickets in cases of accidents, reckless driving or following too closely. He also told me that the judge will probably lower the charge down when I go to court. My question is what do I do when I go to court? Do I plead guilty to wreckless driving and then ask him to lower the charge, or do I plead not guilty and then explain why he should lower the charge?
Thank you.

In NC if you have a one vehicle accident (IE; ran off the road) with an injury they give you a ticket for "speed in excess of safe and prudent" . Then the driver goes to court, shows the DA that he has proof of liability insurance and the ticket is dismissed.

Were there any injuries? Was It a one vehicle accident?
