waited too long to correct ticket

What is the name of your state? california

ok this is my problem. I was pulled over on my motorcycle, ( actually i was on the side of the road stopped already when he flashed his lights) in april i believe. The cop asked for my license and registration, so I opened the pouch on my motorcycle and found that my insurance card and my permit were soaked and unintelligable so the cop wrote me up for out of class license and no insurance. so I called the dmv and my insurance company and got proof of both things and put them in the motorcycle until i went in to pay the ticket in case i was pulled over again. well soon afterwards someone decided they wanted the motorcycle more than I did and it was stolen along with my paper work. So I called the insurance company and requested the paper work again, and several weeks later they sent me the wrong paperwork, this went on for more than I care to believe. last week I finally got the paperwork together and was going to give the information to the clerk the following friday well today I received a piece of paper saying that my license was suspended so i went in to the clerk and she said that it was too late for me to clear the ticket up and told me to pay 1000 dollars which I cannot pay since im going to be going to college out of state soon and already speant every cent i had on tuition and reserving housing etc. is there a way i can talk to the judge and clear this up?

sorry for the long posting but to tell you the truth i am kind of scared of losing my license since i'll need it once I find a job.

Go back to court as soon as possible and ask that you be allowed to appear before the judge or commissioner that handles traffic matters. Be sure to take all relevant paper to support to excuses for failing to appear in a timely manner (e.g. evidence that would tend to support the fact that your motorcycle was stoled such as police report) as well as evidence of the existence of a valid driver's license and insurance coverage at the time you were cited.

You probably have been charged with a failure to appear. If you present your explanation, the court (in its discretion) may dismiss some or all of the charges; suspend or reduce the fine as to each of the charges; and/or allow you a reasonable period of time within which to pay off the fine.

So why did the cop flash his lights? Were you stopped illegally?
