When being pulled over..

I was wondering how much personal info shows up on a cop's Police computer when they pull you over for a speeding ticket or traffic violation?

Because the last time I got a speeding ticket, the cop had his hand on his gun when moving up to my passenger window. I was as peaceful & calm as anything that day.

I dont have any criminal record of any kind..but about 15 years ago my life was out of wack and I called one of those 1-800 suicide hotlines.. Worst thing I could of done.. All I wanted to do at that time was talk to someone and I felt better after I hung up the phone.. but 15 minutes later theres 4 cop cars in front of my house wanting to take me down to be evaluated.

That also occured in another state then I live now..and like I said it was 15 years ago. Think stuff like that shows up on their computers today when getting pulled over ? If so, that would suck. My life is fine now..

Why? Because they are dangerous. More cops are killed during traffic stops than during any other activity.
I dont really care about him having his hand on his gun... more interested in what shows up on their computers. I guess nobody knows?

It's very unlikely he ran your entire history before he contacted you. MAYBE he had your vehicle registration on the screen ... maybe. I typically don't, because I don't like taking my eyes off the suspect vehicle, but that's me.

Typically, an officer can find out your driving history and maybe a local or state criminal history if he has enough time and enough information ... this is NOT something they will typically be done before they contact you. How much info is available depends on the nature of the systems the agency has.

As previously mentioned, there can be a number of reasons. I have been known to have my gun out and "concealed" behind my hip at times. It depends on what catches our attention.

If the officer ran your name and his car had access to some local master name index, he MIGHT be able to pull up that contact and incident ... but, prior to a stop? Almost certainly not. And something THAT old? Very doubtful it would even be contained in the current record system.

Im now thinking it may be because of the town I live in. (in which he most likely found out when running my plate) Its a pretty bad town.. And maybe just my city name and car type had him a little on edge.
