| | | WHO's responsible? What is the name of your state?IL
Tell me, isnt it the responsibililty of the actual owner of a vehicle to make sure that the vehicle has the correct plates, sticker, and correct active insurance on the vehicle? And NOT to allow it to be driven if it is NOT legal?
Thanks |

Thanks | Nope. It is the drivers responsibility to make sure that the vehicle that he/she is driving is legal.

When you get behind the wheel, you assume responsibility for the safe and legal operation of the vehicle.
In other words, the driver gets the ticket. That's why it's called "Operating Unregistered Vehicle", not Owning Unregistered Vehicle. |

If you want to argue the point, do it in traffic court. |

| | | So if you want to screw someone tell them to drive your car and put a phoney plate on it, and you can screw them by having them get pulled over and ticketed? This is nice, good plan and strategy on someone. And you can get away with this? |

Thanks | In a perfect world, the negligent (or melicious) owner would get his comeuppance...like if he turned a car over to an unlicensed driver, or provided a vehicle, knowing it had dangerous mechanical problems. In the case at hand, there is no allegation or indication public safety was put at risk, and the only loser will be you. Maybe you have grounds for a civil recovery suit (like in small claims court), but you'll have to bring convincing evidence this person negligently or intentionally contributed materially to your financial loss. Did anybody witness his assurances that "everything was right with the car" sort of thing? |

Just about everybody has someone they'd like to give a hotfoot to, one they could get away with. How did this culprit of yours assure you'd get stopped by a cop? Come back and tell us what the judge had to say. |

| | This email came from a shariff. It goes to show always look further into what your told you CANNOT do. I've listened to people telling me what I CANNOT do and followed their advice, this is why Ive got the problems Ive got now, because I listened to the YOU CANNOT DO THAT'S. Look around you CAN DO things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
talk to the judge
tell him/her your side,
you borrowed the car that joe blow drove on a daily basis, maybe you borrowed a neighbors car
as well during that time period ??????
as a law abiding citizen you did not think to ask if the plates, registration, insurance,
were all in order from your neighbor or joe blow !!! they may be sex offenders too !!!!
that is just not how you think, being a law abiding citizen.
you would not buy a blouse if you thought that it was made using child slave labor but how would you know !!!!
talk to the judge
