Will Points follow me from Australia to CA? What is the name of your state? California
Hey,
My wife and I spent 8 months backpacking around Australia last year in a campervan we bought there and then sold before we flew home to Los Angeles. While there:
1) My wife received a speeding ticket, which we paid, and then...
2) Today I received a Traffic Camera Speeding Ticket in the mail from Queensland Transport for AUS$150 and 3 Demerit Points. (The infraction took place on July 27, 2004, so apparently the tenacious buggers spent the last year tracking me down half-way around the freakin' world...)
My questions:
1) The Queensland Transport ticket form requires me to put down my California driver's licence info, so would the licence demerit points from our Australian tickets show up or transfer to our California licences?
2) Even though I just got the ticket today, am I screwed in terms of late payment penalties because it's almost a year overdue? (Just wanting your general thoughts, not Aussie law...)
3) If I ignore the ticket (not that I intend to, but just out of curiosity...) could they eventually issue a warrant for my arrest and therefore screw any future chance of my visiting the country again?
Appreciate the advice! |
