What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wisconsin

I got a speeding ticket in Wisconsin and the box is checked that I am required to appear in court.

If I hire an attorney, do I still have to appear in court? Does my attorney also have to or can they appear in court on my behalf? Or can my attorney resolve everything by mail with neither of us having to appear?

You will have to appear in court. If they want to throw you in jail, it makes things much easier if you are there.
