wisconsin vs. ILL

I live in lake county IL, and in wisconsin i got a speeding ticket for 82mph in a 65mph zone at 3am. and the coptoldme (wis cop) said that it is like 3 point for this ticket. and i dont think illlinois does the point system...? and i was wondering if this can go on my illinois record and go against me.. cause i have a acclerating too fast ticket and i was NOT informed i could go to school for it, was my first ticket, and that is on my personal record, and this accident one might go on my record, and i dont need this wisconsin thing going on my record cause ithink 3 striikes and im gone for 6 months?????? lake county sucks. cook was better..

If you are found guilty, the Wisconsin speeding ticket will be forwarded to IL and treated on your MVR the same as if you received the ticket in IL.

A lot of people have been misled by officers telling them it is a no point ticket only to find out their home state treats it differently so you are correct to check the law in your state. Here is the statute on suspension

"2. Has been convicted of not less than 3 offenses against
traffic regulations governing the movement of vehicles committed within any 12 month period. No revocation or suspension shall be entered more than 6 months after the date of last conviction;"

You need to check you MVR to see what is actually on there and when the 12 month period would expire. You may be able to contest the Wisconsin ticket and delay trial for several months until you are in the clear. I'm not sure if they go by date entered or the date you received the citation so you need need an attorney to clear that up for you but the statute mentions date of conviction.

Your real problem will be paying your insurance premiums. I would strongly suggest that you retain an attorney and contest the ticket. If you don't have an attorney then try the link on this page. If no one is listed then send me and email and I can give you a resource in Wisconsin.

the only thing that bothers me is that i have gotten all these dam tickets in the past 5 months, i was good for 1.5 years and i moved up here and BAM all over, i dont have money to mess with att. i barely have money week by week.

and in illinois they give u a slip that says fill out for traffic school,,wisconsin gave me no such thing. and so far i have only gotten one thing from the sec of state for the first ticket i got in feb 6 03, that was my first ticket, 2 more after that in ill and 1 more in wisconsin, what a life! and im going to school for one of em, and have no clue bout the accident, court wont give me an answer since i missed my datethanks for the info

Sounds to me like you need to start taking the bus. You can try calling the clerk of court in Wisconsin and see if they will accept an out of state traffic school certificate and keep the ticket off your record.

This means going twice and may not be allowed but some jurisdictions don't care as long as they get their money.

i think in illinois u are allowed 2 traffic schools per 12-18months, also since imissed my accident court date to fight the ticket i called them and they said to just pay it, 75$, and ihave the traffic slip for school, u think if i send the 100$ , 25$ for school they will accept it and send me to school? the court said to to there when the state cops are there, but i think they though that i never got one.

Im in the same area as you. Sounds like you got a ticket on I-94. I dont think WI does traffic school like IL does. Yes your WI ticket will be reported to IL Secretary of States office.

You may want to get a monthly Metra/PACE/CTA pass.

ya got it on I-94, what a great road to speed on! hm thats sucks, i guess i got 2 records now

theres no need for a train or bus pass cause i only drive to work and the gym, both are 1 mile away. its when i go to see friends late at night is when i get reamed.

What side of the line is your license on? IL or WI?

Speeding on 94 especially in SE WI (Milwaukee down to Kenosha) is like shooting fish in a barrel for the state patrol and sheriff's. Best bet is to see if you can plead for a higher fine minus the points.

Points mean higher insurance and if you get enough a suspenion of your license.

I take it you either live in Round Lake/Gurnee or in Waukegan/ North Chicago
