Worth contesting a red light violation in VA?

What is the name of your state? VA

Is it worth contesting a red light violation? A cop pulled me over when i was SURE i went through on Orange (the light was one of those short 1-2 second Oranges!). I told him this when he pulled me, he said it was red. $100 fine + $55 court fees if i plead guilty by mail. Is it woth contesting is as it will be his word versus mine? He had no camera etc.
Remember this is deepest dark Virginia where the cops and the law are like the wild west! What is the name of your state?

When the cop swears under oath that the light was red, then that is enough for you to be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

If you have an EXCELLENT driving record (i.e., no tickets whatsoever) the prosecutor may be willing to amend the charge to a non-moving violation. But he doesn't have to so don't be disappointed if he says no.

Thanks SeniorJudge - what is the potential 'extra' costs if found guilty normally (court costs etc). I need to determine whether this gamble is worth it.
What will a non moving violation reduce? Fine? Points?
