Wrong Court Date on Ticket

What is the name of your state? California
Hi All! I would really appreciate any advice anyone could give me on this..
In April, I received a speeding ticket. I was coming back from Half Moon Bay (in Northern California) on the I-5 and got pulled over for going 90 in a 65 zone. (I was in a hurry to make it to a class orientation on UCLA and I was already late). So anyways, I know this isn't an excuse and I shouldn't have been speeding, but trust me, I learned my lesson.
Now here are my 2 questions: 1) The court date on the bottom of the ticket said May 31, 2004. Not thinking about it, I went to court, all the way in Valencia (I live in Los Angeles) and realized when I got there that it was memorial day. So I went about my business waiting for a letter in the mail telling me other instructions. I never got anything and about 2 weeks ago I got a letter in the mail saying that my bail was $800. Why is it so much? Do you think the fines will be reduced if I show the judge the ticket saying the May 31st court date? Shouldn't it be the officers fault for giving me the wrong court date. This is the first ticket I have gotten (besides one for an accident about 4/5 years ago which I think is gone from my record anyways). So I called the court and now I have another court date for failure to appear. What is this about? When I do go, what should I say to the judge? Will I have to go to jail over this?
2) The citation the officer wrote was 22344 and some letters after it "Speeding" was the exact citation he wrote. I have looked for this code everywhere and cannot find it, could it be wrong? or am I just looking in the wrong places? If it is wrong, can anything be done in regards to my ticket?
And, could I still go to traffic school to erase it? Any info anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Don't go loco, this is a simple misunderstanding. The court had your ticket appearance date set for a different day then your ticket stated. You didn't show and that is why a FTA was issued. Show the judge your ticket to explain why you were not present. No, you will not go to jail.
