Adult Film Production

What is the name of your state? North Carolina/South Carolina

Hello. I am interested in starting a "legitimate" adult film production company in this area, and need to be pointed in the right direction, before retaining full-time counsel. Areas of concern are: (1) advertising for talent recruitment, (2) location legalities, (3) sales/distribution internationally, to be conducted in North & South Carolinas.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

    P.S.
Private email reply will be fine, if better suited.

    My response:

I think contributor "You Are Guilty" (Yes, that's his forum name) would be well-suited to respond to you. It says in his bio (if you want to see for yourself) that he's a former "Child Porn Star".

    My response:

And, to be even MORE specific, there's quite a porn contingent and industry in the town of Chatsworth (which is in the NorthWest end of the San Fernando Valley). You'd never know it, though. It's well hidden.

Alas, I only took up porn acting because I was too embarassed to admit I was a lawyer.

But, it sounds like our OP is more interested in finding a way to legalize all those hookers he keeps bringing home for all those coke-induced sexfests. Needs some advice "before" retaining counsel? Uhm-hmm.

    Hello!!!

Well, I suppose it's wasting my time expecting to get "legitimate" answers from "legitimate" legal experts on this site. I believe that falls into the LEGAL catagory called "False Advertisement"...however, I may be wrong...LOL.

what legitimate answers and questions were you asking. IF YOU ARE STARTING UP A "LEGITIMATE" BUSINESS YOU NEED TO GET AN ACCOUNTANT AND A LAWYER THAT YOU CAN SIT DOWN AND TALK TO IN PERSON.

YOU NEED MONEY, BUT YOU OBVIOUSLY KNEW THAT, AS YOU ARE STARTING A BUSINESS. HAVE YOU DONE ANY RESEARCH INTO THIS AT ALL.

ARE YOU CURRENTLY IN THIS "BUSINESS"?

IF SO, ASK YOUR CURRENT EMPLOYER IN REGARDS TO LEGALITIES. IF NOT, STOP WASTING YOUR TIME, CLEAR THE AIR OUT OF YOUR HEAD AND GET A JOB.

Actually, you asked for a discussion of a number of huge areas of law which (at least I) don't have the hours it would take to analyze with you on a public forum. A business like the one you suggest will have many, many legal issues to tackle, much more than the ones you listed. If you like not being imprisoned for prostitution/pandering/solicitation, you will definitely want to retain an attorney to speak with at length before you embark upon your quest to become the next Long Dong Silver.

If you have one specific, narrow issue you'd like discussed, maybe we can give more specific answers.

A good primer on how to start an adult filmmaking business and the laws you have to comply with is located at www.adultfilmmaking.com. Still get an good attorney also.
