Adult Videos for private use

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan

If I am hired and compensated monetarily to video tape a consenting adult couple having sex, am I breaking the law? I would have no involvement other than taping. Am I breaking the law?

I could sign a waiver releasing copywrite, but I would also want them to sign saying the video is for private use only and not to be distributed commercially.

The reason I ask, is I am a boudoir photographer and photograph a lot of couples. I'm not even sure how legal photographing them in sexual acts is either, but video seems more dangerous.

What are my rights as an artist?

CopyRIGHT.

If you are working for them and the material is left with them, I fail to see how it would be troubling provided that these people are both adults and the act you are filming isn't itself illegal.

Sure you can ask them to sign a waiver but it's not going to have any effect on criminal issues.

Wow, what an eloquent and legally adequate piece of advice you have offered here.

If you really want to cover yourself in the event anyone ends up posting the video online or something, you may wish to consider maintaining age verification records etc. as required by 18 USC 2257:

(can't figure out how to make the URL a link)
