Contract questionI have a general question about entertainment contracts. I recently signed a contract to distribut a dvd i made on PPV. Now I didnt get legal advice on this i went and signed the deal. Now I recently braughtin a partner and he discovered I have screwed my self over and in the contract it states that the company I signed with has rights to distribute the content in other formats other than PPV, and basically given them rights to do what ever they please with it. Obvious Iv been mislead and screwed on the deal, now on the contract I signed the deal was made between the individual and my website name only. How can Iget out of this? Can I start another website and company and sell the content to that new company and website for a dollar and not do anything with the other website, will this release my content from the contract if Im not running the site anymore and use it as a pointer to the new site? |

| The op represented his/her self. They didn't do any research to find out what to look out for. Have the contract looked over by a good attorney, to see if there is something in the contract that will allow you to rescind it. I suspect not, as the company who drew up the contract almost definitely had legal counsel. Before you sign a contract, or enter into a business arrangement, you either need to find out what things to look out for and/or retain counsel to advise you. I suggest you do both. |
