Question

Talent Booking

California.
Hi everybody! I am a musician who has been booking myself for a couple years doing steady work. Music is my life and I'm obsessed with the business as well. I have no experience as a booking agent other than for myself, but know of a band who would like to use me to help them get gigs. That means I would be providing a number of services to them like recording demos, producing advertising materials, finding venues, handling riders and such. I am not interested in collecting any fees or profiting in any way from it.

Do I still need to file for a license in California and put up the $50k? If so, I can't imagine how anyone would get into that side of the business! I want to wear as many hats as possible to learn the business, but I don't want an entertainment lawyer breaking down my front door for booking a $25 dollar gig at a coffee shop for someone else either!

Thanks in advance,
Alex.
