What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Dear forum,
I had been working as a 1099'er to one firm for over 9 years. (I know, right?)
I had been handled and micromanaged as an employee. In hindsight, I now realize that wasn't approrpirate per my 1099'er status.

That said, I'm no longer with the team and have embarked on my own business endeavours. I have already sent out an "new contact" msg to my colleagues.
However, i feel that my work relationships (in my field) may be compromised as people may be incorrectly emailing at my old address. It seems that messages are arriving at my old address, with no notice that I've left the team. I am concerned that they are pretending that I still work there, and pilfering opportuntiy intended to reach me.

How to proceed? Do I have any say to have them close my old email address?
