For Colorado or Georgia: We are a group of tree climbing facilitators (taking groups up into the trees on ropes) and instructors (training others to climb or facilitate, instruct, etc.), who are forming a formal organization to promote the activity of tree climbing, advocate safety and access, educate the public, and set standards for the sport and for training. We will be collecting membership dues, but not engaging in any commercial activities beyond perhaps selling t-shirts, stickers, and the like. We have received conflicting advice on whether we should seek status as a 501(c)3 or 501(c)6 corporation, or both. Does anyone have advice for us. Thank you!
