What is the name of your state? Illinois

I have decided to go LLC with my website development business. Can you clarify the difference in adopting an Assumed Business Name for $90, Reserving a Business Name for $300, or Registering a Business Name for $300?

What's the advantage/disadvantage to choosing one or the other?

1. ADOPTING AN ASSUMED BUSINESS NAME FOR $90,
You will have to comply with the assumed business name statute and register the name of the business with the county clerk in order to legally do business in that name.

2. RESERVING A BUSINESS NAME FOR $300, OR
If you want, you can reserve a business name from the state so that when you do go to register the name, it will be available. However, this step is not necessary, particularly if there will be a short interval between the time you decide on a name and your registering the name.

3. REGISTERING A BUSINESS NAME FOR $300?
In order to have a LLC, you must register its name with the state.
