I made a deposit of $60,000 at my bank from sale of house and then had bank wire funds to brokerage. This was done but my checking account has never been debited and over two months later I am still showing a balance that includes $60,000. What do I do??? What are legal implications??? I assume if I was to use money it would constitute theft, but at some point does the bank forfiet the money? How would the bank find out if it hadn't already identified its error?????

My response:

Wow, Parker Brothers has nothing on you! "Bank error in your favor - - Collect $60,000.00."

Rest assured, that when the bank completes it's quarterly audit, they'll find their error and adjust the account accordingly. Someone failed to key their computer properly.

Don't touch the money. It's not yours.
