Our BP oil claim was filed in 2009 and in 2011 I completed a partnership buyout agreement, which gave me complete ownership of the company in 2011. In 2013 the BP oil claim was awarded to our company. Does my previous partner have a legal share in this settlement?

Thanks

Not enough information. What exactly was the nature of the entity involved. You use both the term "company" (which legally implies a corporation) and partnership.
How was the application to BP filed (in what enties' names)? What did your purchase contract say about assets?

Best bet, take everything to an attorney, we can't tell with the scant amount of information.
