What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York
My friend was married to this guy to whom he built a business, splitting 51(my friend),49 shares (because my friend put all the investment), the shares agreement is on paper.
Things went very badly for them and they split up whilst having the business.
The situation is that the guy doesn't want to sell it or is asking for an insane, irrational amount of money for my friend to buy him out because he is having a good life ( he doesn't know how to do anything else, and he basically does nothing in the business, just like a parasite ).
Given the situation my questions are:
What can my friend do to solve this situation?
How long does it normally take to solve a situation of this kind?

Your friend needs to be consulting with her attorney!

And because you are not privy to any of it and unable to provide anything but skimpy and useless second and third hand information, should gracefully bow out. As they say in some quarters, "Your dog isn't in this fight".
