We are located in Illinois. We have a business. We have been trying to collect a $65.00 debt from a construction contractor for work (copy house plans) we did for them.

After several letters & phone call we finaly caught the co-owner. His response... "We had to file a lean on the newly constructd home, your business is included on the lean. We will pay you when we are paid."

Are we obligated by this, and in turn must wait?, Also, are we allowed to charege an ongoing finance charges, as stated on our invoices?

Thanks!!!!

They owe you the money now. You did the work for them.

If they did not get paid, that's their problem, not yours.
