What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CALIFORNIA

If I call my business a trust and say I'm the trustee is that legal in California?
Why would someone do that?

Another question:

If I call my business an "organization" do I have to be incorporated?

no trust yet.

Just thinking of creative ways to not incorporate and not pay fees and still create a separate legal entity to avoid liability.

Actually, wondering mostly about taxes...

Although the specific facts are important, it is unlikely that a trust/business is not going to pay more (a lot more) in taxes.

Legal? It depends. But, if you have enough control over the assets of the trust to be able to run a business out of it, you are not going to get the asset protection you would through a corporation.
