Is it possible to get out of a financing agreement for a vehicle for any reason shortly after purchase? I live in Oregon, and was lied to regarding my financing being approved. I was told 8.75% during purchase (but not garanteed this because the bank was closed), but told it had gone through a few days later. A few days after that, I was told it hadn't gone through, and am being told I have to pay 12%. Do I have any recourse?

My response:

Unfortunately, what you were orally told has no force or effect. Please read your purchase contract carefully - - within it, you'll read something to the effect that only those terms and conditions written within the four corners of the contract papers themselves are valid.

However, on a brighter note, you have the option of obtaining your own financing, and more than probably, at a lower rate.

Good luck to you.
