Indiana: If I operate a business can I cash a payroll check for a customer if I am not actually a check cashing business and I do not advertise this service

Sure you can. Do you realize how risky such an endevour is? If you can't afford to eat the losses due to bad checks, don't do it.

You may be regulated by State and/or Local authorities if you are charging for this service and do it "too much".

**A: why would you do such a thing? Direct the customer to his own financial institution.
