I invested some money in a partnership that was starting a dot com. It was up and running, with limited activity, however and with promises for much more. Suddenly, it disappeared from the internet, and calls to the office found the telephone disconnected. Obviously, it has a bad smell to it. How and where do I find out if a company has filed for bankruptcy and if there is a track record on the closure? It was a California based company.

Thanks for the help.
