| DTE Cut Gas What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan
My father operates a restaurant. He's an honest business man, but due to the recession and slow business, he's gotten behind on the DTE energy gas bill.
They were working on a payment plan for him to pay an extra $500 with each bill until the previous balance is paid off. However, they didn't get this payment plan fully approved, she was still talking to her manager, and this is her exact text in her email:
"I am attempting to meet with my Manager in between her busy schedule on what else can be done for Gary. Until then, I suggest that you continue to make your payments and possibly see if your income will allow more to be paid with the current bill. I will place a 30-day hold on the account until I can meet with my Manager and I will call you once I have a decision."
This was October 27th. She agreed to a 30-day hold, and now just 7-days later the gas is cut off. Since they agreed to a hold while they prepare a payment plan, and now we cannot serve food to our customers... can't they be held responsible for the loss of sales / customers? Yes, we are behind. Yes, they have the right to cut off our services. But since they agreed to a 30-day hold, do they still have that right?
