This is my first post so I really hope it's in the right place!
I own a small company located in California and have an accounting error that is a fairly big mistake....I sent the wrong supplier/person payment via check and it was cashed (a company that we haven't worked with in years). I did not notice this mistake until the correct company called me asking for payment. The check was made out and mailed to another company with a similar name in our system, so the error was on our part.
I tried calling them and cannot get a hold of anyone or email either. I looked them up (they are an LLC) and it indicates they are no longer active as a company.
What are my options?
