My husband is in a partnership that is located on land that will be bought out by the US govt for an interstate. They have a choice of a buyout or relocation. If they choose buyout can he file for unemployment? He has not been paying into the system so far, but could he begin paying now? Thanks for any help!

Business owners cannot collect unemployment in your state. Even if he could, the money from the buyout would be considered income and would delay any benefits.
