My wife has been taking care of 2 neighbor's - 3 kids (total) after elementary school. The bus drops them off and they walk to our home and she watches them each for approx. 2.5-3 hours until the parents pick them up. Combined, the parents pay my wife a total of $355 per month for doing this.

One parent asked her for her Federal Tax ID the other day when doing her taxes. My wife countered with, "come on, I'm just watching your kids after school for a small fee, this isn't a daycare."

Does anyone know the rules here?
