What is the name of your state? CA
Hi,

how can I determine number of shares outstanding in a California Corporation that is not public? I invested money in a start-up corporation and I was supposed to get 5% ownership. I got 2500 shares and the share certificate states that "The corporation is authorized to issue 20 common shares with no par value". If that statement is true, then 5% should be 1 share instead of 2500, am I right? I guess what is printed on this piece of paper means nothing? So how can I find out the "true" number of shares outstanding so that I can determine how many shares will 5% translate to ?
