What is the name of your state? Tennessee

My fiance is leaving the Public Defender's office to operate as an Independent Contractor for a small firm. Are we protected with her operating as a sole proprietorship or should we establish her as an LLC or LLP (possible with only one member?)?

Some notes:
- Her employer/sole client is paying her overhead and malpractice insurance.
- She is asking him and a friend what they think the best route is, but we would appreciate a second opinion.
- Aside, I am the only person on the deed to our house, if she operates as a sole proprietorship, should I keep her off the deed to limit her assets?

Thanks for your advice. Like I said, she's checking, but I'm a skeptic. What is the name of your state?
