Back in 1998 I was going through a child support/custody battle. So a friend of the family was recommended to me to help me. He wanted a retainer fee( which is customary). We went to court once, with no outcome to my problem, then left me hanging, so I decided to go ahead with my leagal situation without a lawyer and was successful. The lawyer billed me a couple of times which i made a few payments. Then my legal matter was settled and I never heard from the lawyer again. Until today, he wants his money. I don't think he deserves any more than what i paid. How could he wait 2 years? do I have any recourse in New Jersey?
