marketing a food item from my kitchenWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey. I would like to market a food item made in my kitchen. Meatballs. What are the rules? How do I go about this? |

| lots of places to deal with including: health department and the state taxing authority (business license and tax id number). If there are any local ordinances, you need to deal with those folks as well. There may be rules against running such a business from your home. that is only a quick couple points. I am sure there are more.

| The resale of cooked meat products is controlled by the FDA. The meat must come from a commercial source and it must be prepared and packaged in a commercial kitchen. There are other rules for food refrigeration and freezing too. They have this thing about preventing e-coli and other types of foodbourned illnesses. Your local health department would be a good start. Don't plan on using your home kitchen though.
