Nearly two years ago, I finished paying off my student loan accounts (with USA
Group of Indianapolis, IN). I did a lump sum payment at the time, unfortunately,
after getting the payoff amount, the turn-around time left me past 60 days due.
Since I took the loans in 7 disbursements, USA Group reported them as 7 60 day
late accounts. Now I am stuck with them on my record until 2005, of course,
wreaking havok on my credit. I have talked to the credit bureaus, who told me I
have to go through USA Group. However, USA Group has told me a few times
(most recently July 2000) that they consider the records valid and will not
consolidate them into one record. I do not deny that I deserve this on my record,
but I paid for all 7 disbursements as one payment, and it was billed to me as one
bill, with 7 separate entries added as one. Is there anything I can do to get USA
Group to restate the accounts as just one late entry?
