New Name

Started a new sole proprietorship. Preliminary search of state and trademark databases revealed no one else using desired name. Filed name publication with county as well as trademark registration and license with state. Found a company with similar name operating in another state doing similar work. Can I be sued for doing business under a similar name?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
