We bought a AKC registered puppy from a breeder. The day we picked the dog up, the breeder had the puppy checked and shots given by his vet. He told us that the puppy was given a clean bill of health. From the time we brought her home, she gradually became more and more sick. One day later, she ended up in the emergency room of the animal hospital, so ill, we didn't know if she would make it through the night. We updated the breeder,on the phone through all of this, and he told us to send him the bill. Now, he thinks the bill is too high, and he and his vet claim the pup was never sick, just under stress.(His vet has never seen her since her shots). She was found by our vet to have "millions of intestinal bacteria", was dehydrated, put on antibiotics, which she is responding to. The breeder refuses to send us the money for the vet bill, and will not answer our phone calls or letters. Do we have any chance in small claims court?
