I am starting a non profit, and am considering asking any lawyer that wishes to be on our board of directors to please contact me.

It is my understanding that after I get my non profit status with my state that I have 18 months to get my federal 501c status. Is this correct. We are in Washington State.

Thank you in advance for all advice.
