What is the name of your state? Califorinia

My husband entered a business with another. This was an oral contract, although I do have notes written in Mike's hand specifing what was expected and agreeded upon. Blair sold approx. $360,000.00 in 7 months. Towards the end of May we began to notice many of the creditors were not being paid and were told there was no money in the account. After requesting accounting records many times we were finally given computer generated reports here and there, the next never substaciating the previous report.
Mike told Blair," The store is up and running by it's self,
F---You." We have been to an attorney, presented our evidence, and were told it is a clear case of Breach of Contract. Although we can prove that the oral contract exsisted, and under specific terms, we have been told it would cost more than the case is worth to preceeded with a law suit. Is there anything for someplace or someone that can help us under 5,000 - 8000 dollars.
