would it be against the law in ohio to hold a raffle for a prize from a business to promote future business? and what if you make a contribution to a non-profit organiztion from that raffle of lets say 10%?

You will have reporting requirements for taxes on those raffles. Companies conduct such raffles and promotions all the time to advertise and promote business.

If you want to donate to a non profit, it doesn't negate your right to raffle or make it more legal. But it is a good tax break, etc.
