Shunning, any recourse?

Im in the North Georgia mountains...
My partner and I started a restaurant and for the first few months were the talk of the town,
couldnt get in the door... since March though, we have been the victoms of vicious slander
campaign by the local Baptist churches, it is affecting our mental and physical health and has about broken the bank
What is, if any, our recourse? All that Im getting in feedback is: Ya shoulda known!
thanks,
Fred

you are going to have to give more details in order to get an educated opinion.

UNEDUCATED OPINION:
You misspelled victom...it's VICTIM
Incorrect punctuation. A period after restaurant
You need to capitalize March.
You misspelled Viscious...it's VICIOUS
You can't 'Break' money. you can become broke, you can go broke or you can even go FOR broke, but money cannot be broken.

more info for you!

We are gay and have allowed alcohol consumption on premises.
The rumors are that my partner has aids and touches the food...
and we worship the devil cause we are homosexuals!
The shunning is apparant cause if someones car is here they will be boycotted also!
ALL the reservations for dinner JULY and August were new names and they all CANCELLED at the last minute...
They did this to an atty from Florida who wanted the 10 commandments out of the schools
they "prayed her" out... she related the story to us last year I guess she was warning us
after the newspaper campaigned for them to forbid us to open here!
North Ga news 5/2006 twice!
they also called the dept of revenue and had us investigated...

Truthfully there is nothing you can do about the shunning. If you can prove who is saying that your partner has aids (and that it is false) you may have cause for a defamation suit but those are expensive. There is nothing that can be done about people deciding not to go to your establishment because you are homosexual or serve alcohol. Private individuals have the right to not partonize businesses.
